Police: Hamden man smashes 13 cars in South Norwalk parking lot
NORWALK — A Hamden man was arrested in connection with a South Norwalk parking lot rampage that left 13 cars damaged, police said.
Isaac Carrillo-Herrera, 23, was charged with 14 counts of third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree breach of peace and third-degree criminal trespass for an incident early Friday morning. Police said Carillo-Herrera took a pole and damaged numerous cars in an Ann Street parking lot.
According to the police report, officers were called just before 1:30 a.m. Friday on reports of loud noises and a man with a pipe or pole striking vehicles in the area of 21 Ann St. According to one witness, Carillo-Herrera was at one point standing on the roof and slamming his arm into the top of a vehicle, police said.
Officers spoke to a witness, who described the man and pointed officers in the direction he fled after inflicting the damage, the report said.
Carillo-Herrera was detained nearby on North Main Street. Police said they determined he used a barrier gate arm that he broke off of a nearby parking garage.
Carillo-Herrera was identified by witnesses and taken into custody. He was issued a $50,000 bond and is due in court Sept. 17.
Police had not determined a motive for the rampage, the report said.
