WALLINGFORD — A Meriden man was charged with murder after stabbing a Wallingford man numerous times outside a local bar late Saturday, police said Sunday.

Officers were called to the Corner Café on Church Street on a report of serious assault at about 10:25 p.m. Saturday and found Ernest Cipolli III, 32, lying in the parking lot and “bleeding from what appeared to be numerous stab wounds,” according to a police statement.

“They attempted life-saving measures, however, the victim succumbed to his injuries while in route to the hospital,” police said.

An investigation determined that Meriden resident Kristopher Carlson, 23, “had an altercation” with Cipolli in the cafe’s parking lot, during which Carlson used a knife and “stabbed him numerous times” and left the scene, according to police.

Carlson, of 155 Reservoir Ave., was located and taken into custody, police said. Carlson, who has a court date of March 1, was held on $500,000 bond, according to police.
