One teen arrested, another in hospital after party
John Juterbock, 18, of 170 Ridge Acres Road was arrested for allegedly supplying alcohol to minors following a party at his apartment at 11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, according to police.
The Darien Police received an anonymous complaint of several people yelling on Ridge Acres Road. When officers arrived, they observed several beer bottles on the side of the road and in front of Juterbock's residence, as well as shoe prints in the snow, leading up to the property, police said.
Police found the apartment door wide open, and two trash bags full of empty beer cans and boxes next to the entrance. Once inside, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana and saw marijuana residue including roaches and blunts as well as beer cans all over the kitchen, police said. Police checked the entire apartment, but no one was there.
The apartment is attached to a house, which belongs to Juterbock's parents, police said. When police went to the main residence, they found Juterbock, who was intoxicated, according to the report. He was accompanied by three other teens, who told police they had been drinking, the report stated.
Juterbock told the police that he is the main resident of the apartment, and that he had held a party there earlier in the night. He told police that the yelling had occurred when his mother arrived home and told his guests to leave, police said. Juterbock denied supplying the alcohol, but told police he consumed alcohol himself and invited others to the apartment, police said.
Police were later contacted by the emergency room at Norwalk Hospital, alerting them of a 17-year-old Darien boy who had been assaulted at a party earlier in the evening. The victim, whose name is not being released, had a black eye on the left side of his face as well as cuts and scratches on his knuckles and a scratch on the back of his neck, police said.
It was obvious that he was drinking, police said, and he could not recollect what had transpired and was unsure if the assault occurred at the residence on Ridge Acre Road. Capt. Komm of the Darien Police Department said it's "very likely" that the boy's injuries are related to the Ridge Acres party.
Juterbock was released on a promise to appear in court on Monday, Jan. 25.
