Norwalk man accused of assaulting elderly relative
NORWALK — A Norwalk man has been accused of assaulting a sleeping elderly person at the Roodner Court housing complex late Thursday night, police said.
Police were called to the apartment complex around midnight Thursday on reports of two people fighting outside one of the buildings.
The victim had been sleeping when a family member, 46-year-old Charles Sauvele, started to punching the victim multiple times in the face, police said. The victim told police that it was unknown what provoked the attack.
The victim complained of head pain when police arrived, but declined medical attention.
Police found Sauvele in his apartment and placed him under arrest. He was charged with third-degree assault of an elderly victim and disorderly conduct. He was held on $5,000 bond and appeared Friday in court.
