The Noroton Fire Department will participate in the collection of toys for the U.S. Marine Corps. Reserve "Toys for Tots" program.

The Toys for Tots program provides donated toys to less fortunate children locally for the Christmas season. Last year, the program distributed 16.7 million toys nationwide. This will mark Noroton FD's third year participating in the Toys for Tots program.

With the community's help, the Noroton Fire Department hopes to collect more than 1,000 toys, more than double the 500 toys they collected last year.

The unwrapped donated gifts can be left in the drop box which will be located in the parking lot at the rear of the Noroton firehouse, 1873 Post Road across from St. Luke's Church.

Local neighborhood collections to support the Toys for Tots program can arrange to have the gifts picked up by a Noroton firefighter in a fire truck between the dates of Nov. 27 through Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Arrangements can be made by emailing Chief Alan Hyatt at hyatt1996@yahoo.com or by calling 203-656-2122. All donated toys will be distributed locally in Darien, Stamford and Norwalk.
