No injuries in Darien home fire

DARIEN — No one was injured in a fire that left a Ridge Acres Road heavily damaged Thursday night, fire officials said.

Fire Marshal Bob Buch said fire crews responded to the “well-involved structure fire” at around 9 p.m. In all, 40 firefighters were on scene, according to Buch, and the family of five and their two dogs were safely evacuated from the home.

Buch said firefighters got the blaze under control around 1 a.m. on Friday, and the last units cleared about 2:15 a.m. A fire watch was maintained overnight to ensure of no re-kindle, Buch added.

The home sustained heavy fire, heat, smoke and water damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
