The Darien Land Trust recently held its annual meeting and welcomed new Board Members Kara Bohnsack, Phil Peters, and Penny Wilson.

Eagle Scout candidate Nicholas Liu attended the meeting and is working with DLT board member mentors Den Frelinghuysen and Michael Sgroe. Nick designed and built a butterfly garden at Brendans Meadows and is working on a National Resource Conditions Assessment project at Mather Meadows.

The Darien Land Trust permanently preserves and restores open space, providing the community with environmentally rich habitats, scenic vistas, opportunities for educational experiences and the quiet enjoyment of nature.

The trust now owns or has conservation easements over nearly 220 acres in Darien. We have permanently protected diverse natural environments such as wetlands along the Five Mile River, tidal salt marshes at Holly Pond and Scott’s Cove, upland forests in Dunlap Woods, and meadow habitat at Mather Meadows, Fox Run, and Brendans Meadow.
