NEW HAVEN — The New Haven Police Department will hold a car wash this Saturday, Sept. 21 to benefit the department’s Police Activity League.

Sgt. Ron Ferrante, the head of the PAL program, said the car wash will be held in the Career High School parking lot, located at 140 Legion Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Ferrante said that officers and young people from the program will be washing cars in exchange for donations.

“I know that any money anybody has is hard-earned money, so, a dollar is a dollar more than what we had,” said Ferrante during Thursday’s Compstat meeting. “Anything that anybody is willing to give, when and if they come, if they like the car wash, it’ll all go toward our PAL program.”

“The PAL program provides educational and athletic programs for children throughout the city, as well as sponsoring different activities,” according to the city website. “PAL responds to the needs of youth in many neighborhoods, through after school, weekend and special summer events.”
