NAUGATUCK — A gun with an obliterated serial number, fentanyl and crack cocaine were found in an abandoned stolen vehicle after the driver fled from the traffic stop in Naugatuck, according to police.

Police said officers tried to stop a stolen vehicle — a Honda Accord — on Waterbury Turnpike around 9:30 p.m. Monday when the driver fled from officers.

The Honda was found abandoned on Spring Brook Road in Waterbury, according to police.

Inside the vehicle, police said, investigators found a Glock pistol with an obliterated serial number, 56 bags of fentanyl and 7.2 grams of crack cocaine.

Police said the destruction of the serial number on the gun was consistent with efforts usually used to render a gun untraceable when used in criminal activity.

No arrests have been made.
