Money stolen from Darien YWCA office after office break-in
Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly said the burglary happened at the Darien YMCA. It was the YWCA Darien/Norwalk. The Darien Times apologizes for the error.
On July 8, Darien Police responded to a burglary incident at the YWCA Darien/Norwalk.
The victim said on July 5, she discovered the petty cash pouch located in her locked office drawer was empty. There had been approximately $56 in the pouch that last time she viewed it. Over the next couple of days, the victim attempted to locate the money assuming it had been taken by a co-worker. This morning, the victim noticed pry marks around the door to her office, and noted that the locking mechanism seemed to be partially damaged. While officers were on scene, it was discovered that other office doors appeared to have been pried as well. Nothing other than the missing petty cash was found to be missing. Detectives responded to the property for further processing.
