Beth Cherico has joined the Darien Arts Center as director of visual arts.

Cherico, from Darien, is an experienced art educator. Before becoming "Miss Beth" at the Darien Nature Center, where she taught since 2007, she was a project arts coordinator in New York City public schools. There, she had extensive experience designing and implementing fine art lesson plans for elementary school children.

She also worked in the art program at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan and in the ceramics program at Mohawk Day Camp in Scarsdale, N.Y.

Cherico has shown her work at the Art Director's Club and has been published in GRAPHIS Posters. She grew up in New Hampshire and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts.
