Man charged with assault after domestic dispute
Christopher Samuels, 23, 49 Meadow St., Apt. 31, Norwalk, was arrested May 24 on charges of risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct following an argument with his wife, police said.
Police met with the 24-year-old wife at her Darien home around 2 a.m. when she told them that her husband had fled the scene in a blue Nissan prior to their arrival.
Samuels went to the house earlier that evening to work on the couple's marital issues when an argument ensued after a woman called Samuels' phone, police said.
The wife, who was holding the couple's 1-year-old daughter, told Samuels to leave but he refused.
She told police that as she attempted to move Samuels toward the front door, he slapped her twice on the face, the report stated. She stumbled backwards, falling into, and breaking, the window shades, police said.
Police said Samuels then bit the victim on her right jaw.
Another female, who was in the residence at the time, took the baby while the victim called police. Samuels then fled the scene, police said.
While officers were at the scene, they reported, Samuels called the victim and could be heard yelling. An officer attempted to speak with him, but Samuels hung up.
Darien police contacted Norwalk police for assistance in locating Samuels. Some time later, Norwalk police had Samuels in custody.
While Samuels was being processed at the Darien police station, he told officers that the victim started the fight and had slapped him, the report stated. He said he did not bite her, but may have scratched her, according to the report. There were no marks or scratches on Samuels, police said.
He was held in lieu of $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court May 27.
