The Darien Boys Lacrosse team will be hosting a fundraiser on Saturday.

This year, the normal pre-season excitement has been amped-up by Inside Lacrosse magazine's recent publication of the Under Armour High School rankings for 2011. Darien ranked third in the nation after first place Haverford (PA) and second place Garden City (NY) and also ranked second in the Northeast. Darien has a record number of 13 NCAA recruits.

Darien's tradition of excellence is clearly visible at the high school where 28th year head coach Jeff Brameier runs a nationally ranked, non-cut program. With eight state titles (including six in the past six years), eleven FCIAC titles and scores of NCAA recruited athletes among its alumni, it is obvious that Brameier has refined a winning formula.

One of this year's major fund raising events will be the Comedy Night and Auction to be held on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Woodway Country Club in Darien. The cocktail party format includes hors d'oeuvres and a light supper and features comedians Rodney Laney and Kelly McFarland. There will also be fabulous live and silent auctions with opportunities to bid on a luxurious home in Florida (available during Spring break) and other wonderful vacation homes.

In addition, there will be the chance to bid for cruises on private yachts, golf outings, vintage wine and tickets for Saturday Night Live, plus lots of other unique items. Lacrosse lovers of every description are invited to attend -- fans, parents, relatives and alumni -- all are welcome.
