DARIEN — Police are looking into thousands of dollars worth of jewelry stolen from a home on Coachlamp Lane.

On Jan. 23 around 9 a.m., police responded to the theft after a 63-year-old Darien woman checked her safe to find the jewelry and medication she kept there missing. The woman was living in the basement bedroom in the home of family members. Nothing else in the home was missing.

Among the items stolen were a 24-karat gold bracelet, a gold necklace, five gold rings and a platinum ring with diamonds. Police said they are still determining the value of the items stolen, but believe it will amount to thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.

Prescription medication kept in the safe was also taken.

Police believe the items were taken sometime between Dec. 25 and when they were discovered missing on Jan. 22. Officers have photographs of the missing items. There are no definitive suspects at this time, but the detective bureau is following up on the case.
