DARIEN — As the town held its first-ever Pride rally, more than 600 people gathered to celebrate in Darien on Sunday, June 12.

Due to concerns about the weather, the event was held at First Congregational Church and featured food trucks, puppies and a hometown-raised drag queen.

The event builds on last year, when numerous organizations in town flew pride flags through the month of June. Organizers with the Darien Pride Planning Committee said they wanted to keep the momentum going with more large-scale festivities in 2022.

Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan and recognizes the impact of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals in the community.
