DARIEN — Aiming to promote a love for reading over the requirement for it, the Darien Library hosted its Summer Reading Teen Finale celebration Thursday evening on the front patio.

“The summer is the only time you get to read for pleasure,” explained Mia Orobona, teen services librarian, “and we want to motivate them to read for fun.”

There were various challenge incentives incorporated throughout the program, including scavenger hunts, puzzles, and reading activities. More than 100 kids in middle and high school participated.

The Finale featured food and drink, free books for participants, games, and even a mobile video game bus parked onsite.

“This is a chance to celebrate,” Orobona said.
