DARIEN — Darien’s Bravest and area residents alike took part in a daring escapade for a good cause.

The annual head shaving, raising money through the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, took place at the Darien Fire Department Saturday evening. Around 70 people saw their hair hit the floor in an effort to raise over $80,000 for research into children’s cancer.

According to Shane Smith, who first brought the event to town in 2014, personnel from all three fire departments in town give their time and hair to take part.

“And it’s a good morale booster,” he said.
