HAMDEN — The Hamden Police Department is seeking to identify a man who allegedly charged more than $1,000 worth of fraudulent purchases to a 51-year-old town resident’s credit card.

In a release, Capt. Ronald Smith said officers responded to a Second Street residence Sept. 13 for a report of larceny.

“The 51 year-old Hamden resident advised police that her credit card was fraudulently used to purchase $1,058.45 of stolen merchandise. The purchase was made at Walmart in New Haven,” Smith said.

“Officer Andrew Lipford’s investigation has revealed that the person responsible is described as a black male, 20’s, ‘short, lean athletic build’, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. He is frequently observed in the Second Street area.”

Smith asked anyone with information to contact Officer Lipford of the Hamden Police Department Patrol Division at (203) 230-4030.
