The Darien office of Halstead Property was the lead sponsor of the 32nd annual Darien Road Race that took place Sunday, Sept. 18.

The Darien Road Race benefits the Community Fund of Darien, The Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital and the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital. The race includes a 10K and a 1.5 mile fun-run, originating at Pear Tree Beach in Darien.

"The Darien Road Race is a great community event," said Mary Green, who founded the race. "It attracts families and runners but also gives local businesses a chance to get involved. Halstead has been our major sponsor for over 20 years. They are making such a solid contribution to make our community the best it can be."

The race route covered some nice neighborhoods in Darien. Along the way, runners passed several properties represented by Halstead, including a classic center hall colonial listed for $3.895 million; a, 11.9 million waterfront estate located on nearly five acres with the opportunity for subdivision; a 1797 true piece of Darien history located on the water for $1.199 million; and a maintained home that is ready to move right in for $1.299. "We are so proud that Halstead is a lead sponsor in this important fundraising effort in Darien," said Ned Saunders, Halstead Property's executive director of operations in Connecticut and director of sales for Darien and Rowayton. "The race is a great opportunity to participate in an event that every family can enjoy, and even more importantly, it raises funds to support organizations that make a vital contribution every day to so many lives."

Since its inception in 1979, the Darien Road Race has raised more than $850,000 to support local community social services and cancer support organizations. The race attracts over 500 runners and hundreds of families and spectators.
