GREENWICH An interim human resources director has been appointed from within the central office to take the helm until the Greenwich Public Schools district finds a permanent replacement, Superintendent Toni Jones announced Thursday.

Shamain Johnson, assistant director for certified staff within the HR Department, will serve as the interim human resources director, effective Friday. She replaces Robert Stacy, who left in August to take on the same role for the Stamford Public Schools after four years in Greenwich.

“Shamain will provide instrumental leadership within our Human Resources Department, which serves the needs of our entire district. Having already served in the role of assistant director, she will be a trusted partner for this year,” Jones said.

Johnson has worked in the district since 2014. Last spring, she was promoted from her role as assistant principal for Central Middle School to assistant director of certified staff in the central office.

Before joining Greenwich schools in 2014, Johnson served as an assistant principal and early learning services coordinator for the Stratford Public Schools. She has experience with special education and reading and math instruction in several Connecticut school districts, including Bridgeport and Stamford.

She holds a bachelor of science degree in special education, a master’s degree in learning disabilities and a sixth-year professional diploma in educational leadership, all from Southern Connecticut State University.
