DARIEN — A Stamford woman reported a pair of diamond earrings missing from her car after she took it to a Darien car wash.

On Dec. 2 around 11 a.m., the 27-year-old woman brought her white 2016 Chevrolet Suburban to Splash Car Wash on the Post Road. The woman said she remembered seeing the pear-shaped, diamond earrings in a compartment in the center console.

When the woman returned to her car, she noticed there was a female employee vacuuming the inside. She realized the earrings, valued at $4,300, were missing shortly after leaving the car wash. The Stamford resident called Splash immediately and explained the situation. She returned to the business and the manager went through the car and the vacuum but could not find the earrings.

The 27-year-old did not report the one-karat earrings stolen to the police until Dec. 14. Surveillance video has been reviewed and does not show anything of note. Police are still following up and speaking with Splash employees. However, police did say it appears the earrings were taken and not vacuumed up.
