Daughters of the American Revolution makes holiday plans
Darien's Good Wife's River Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution members are invited to attend a holiday luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at the Stamford Yacht Club. This annual event is hosted by the Stamford Chapter, DAR and CTDAR State Regent Joyce Cahill is expected to attend. Contact Darien's DAR Regent Winifred Lom at 203-655-0686 to confirm attendance.
Darien's DAR Chapter will hold their own annual Christmas party at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, at the La Forge Road home of corresponding secretary Vigee Droesch.
At this time, the DAR Good Citizen Award will be presented to a Darien High School senior by Lom. All are invited to attend. RSVP for this holiday event to hostess Vigee Droesch at 203-655-3753.
Comfort items for veterans at North Haven Veteran's Hospital will be collected by Chairmen of Veteran Patients Carol Wilder-Tamme and plans for the fifth-grade DAR essay contest to be held on Feb. 7 at the Noroton Presbyterian Church will be finalized by essay chairman Sandra MacPherson.
Darien's DAR members are also invited to participate in the nationwide Wreaths Across America wreath laying ceremony at the Spring Grove Veteran's Cemetery at noon on Saturday, Dec. 11. More than 400 wreaths were donated to the Darien cemetery last year.
Membership in the DAR is open to any woman over the age of 18 who can trace her direct lineage to a Patriot who served the cause of American independence during the Revolutionary War. Contact Registrar Karen Polett at 203-656-0857 for applications and information.
