Darienite to be honored by benefit fund

The New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund will honor Darienite Peter Zaffino of Marsh Inc. at its gala in 2015.

The gala on Oct. 24 will honor the New York Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange Fallen Heroes Fund. The 2014 gala will honor Bill Ackman of Pershing Square Capital Management LP.

"We are proud to secure the commitment of these outstanding honorees for the next three years," said Stephen Dannhauser, benefit fund board chairman, "who have dedicated their time and resources to support the mission of the benefit fund, to provide assistance to the families of New York City police officers, firefighters, Port Authority police and EMS personnel who have been killed in the line of duty.

"We have set the bar high with our 2012 gala, which raised over $2.4 million and had close to 1,200 guests. We are confident that the extraordinary leadership of the honorees and our board of directors, along with the ongoing support of our loyal donors, will allow us to continue raising enough funds to provide meaningful annual distributions to beneficiaries for the remainder of their lives, along with a network of vital emotional support."

Zaffino, president and CEO of Marsh Inc., will be honored for his dedication and tireless efforts on behalf of the families. On Sept. 11, 2001, Marsh & McLennan lost 295 employees and 63 consultants who were working in their offices at the World Trade Center.
