Darien student presented with Edward Tunick Business Scholarship
Edward Tunick, owner of Edward Tunick -- men's clothing store -- in the Noroton Heights Shopping Center congratulated and presented a check for $1,000 to Niya Wright, graduating senior at Darien High School.
Niya is the recipient of the fifth annual Edward Tunick Business Scholarship. She will attend the Loyola Marymount College in Los Angeles, Calif., in the fall. Niya plans to major in communications/public relations and business management.
The check presented by Edward Tunick to Niya Wright on May 24 in a ceremony at Darien High School represents a portion of the tuxedo rental proceeds from the recent junior and senior prom. This scholarship is awarded each year to a deserving Darien High School Senior involved in after-school work that demonstrates good work ethics and community service, and plans to pursue a career in business.
This is the 18th year that Edward Tunick has donated a percentage of the prom tuxedo rentals. To date, Tunick has donated more than $16,000 to scholarship funds associated with Darien High School.
