DARIEN — Grieb’s Pharmacy, in Darien, is holding a Pfizer clinic on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. for 12- to 15-year-olds after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the vaccine for that age group.

Connecticut health providers are preparing to inoculate 12- to 15-year-olds for COVID-19 this week. An FDA committee has given final authorization and providers in Connecticut have said they would not delay in administering the inoculations.

The Department of Health informed Grieb’s Pharmacy it can start accepting appointments for the clinic. Pharmacy manager Tim Harvey recommends residents register their child on the Vaccine Administration Management System portal and sign up for an appointment at Grieb’s.

“On Sunday we will have an EMT from Post 53 in Darien, two pharmacists, a nurse, and two pharmacy techs here to administer as many Pfizer vaccines as we can,” Harvey said.

Grieb’s was at the forefront of independent pharmacies offering the vaccine earlier this year. At the beginning of February it was one of only six in the state to offer Moderna vaccines.

Grieb’s Pharmacy, open since 1947, is still in its original location at 1021 Post Road. The pharmacy also offers a variety of other immunizations, including the flu, pneumonia and shingles. For information, visit griebspharmacy.com or call 203-655-1000.
