DARIEN — A group of town residents, coordinated by resident Ann Reed, have been volunteering with the vaccination clinics being held at Town Hall.

Reed, who also serves as vice chairman of the Darien Democratic Town Committee, said when she heard the town was starting a clinic for those 75 and older, she sent an email to Human Services Department and the Darien Health Department asking if they needed help with outreach.

Reed said as the list expanded, they asked her to get a group together to help with outreach to those 75 and older. After that, Reed said she was asked to get a group of volunteers to greet those arriving and check their paperwork.

“The procedures have evolved over time and we adapt as each week has presented itself. It has been a great joy and the volunteers definitely feel that,” Reed said.

Darien vaccine clinics will continue on Wednesdays and Thursdays for as long as there is demand. Town of Darien clinics offer the Moderna vaccine.

Vaccine providers can be found online or register for vaccines on the VAMS website or by calling 877-918-2224.

Local vaccine providers include Grieb’s Pharmacy, Walgreens, Stamford Hospital, Yale New Haven Health and certain Stop & Shop Pharmacies.
