Darien resident pens economic book
Jim Rickards, a Darien resident, has released a book titled "Currency Wars: The Making of the Next Global Crisis."
After two days on the market, Currency Wars made the NYT best sellers extended list. Rickards is a local author who has honed in on a timely topic, offering his perspective on the global financial crisis. He is a dynamic and engaging economist who can also talk about currency wars in the context of the Supercommittee and where the 2012 GOP candidates are relative to the issue.
"Currency Wars" tackles questions like:
Are the actions undertaken in response to the financial meltdown setting the stage for a bigger crisis than the last (Jim says yes but there is still time to change course)?
What are the consequences of the US and global financial situations and financial bailouts of the past?
What are the national security implications?
Rickards has more than three decades of experience in capital markets as a counselor, investment banker and risk manager. He advises the department of dDefense, the U.S. intelligence community and major hedge funds on global finance and served as a facilitator of the first ever financial war games conducted by the Pentagon. A frequent guest on CNBC, CNN, Fox, C-SPAN, Bloomberg TV and NPR, Rickards also lectures at Northwestern University and at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies.
