Darien resident Tom Bredahl ran the ING New York City Marathon Nov. 3 to raise funding and awareness for AmeriCares.

He was one of 18 runners on Team AmeriCares who, combined, raised more than $225,000 for the Stamford-based disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization.

An avid runner, Bredahl completed the race in three hours and 52 minutes. He was among the more than 50,000 runners competing. The annual race raises more than $30 million each year for more than 200 charities.
