Ho hum, another FCIAC title for the Darien girls volleyball.

The top-seeded and undefeated Blue Wave on Saturday dominated, for its 10th consecutive FCIAC girls volleyball crown, beating No. 3 Fairfield Ludlowe, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-21) in the FCIAC Championship match at Fairfield Ludlowe High School.

"It's tough playing a team that is that relentless," Ludlowe head coach Chris Skelton said. "They just play so consistently, they're just very, very fundamentally sound."

Ludlowe was led by Maddi McCaffrey, who had 19 kills and nine digs. Brandi Segala had 27 assists and Emily Nelson had 13 digs and five kills as the Falcons lost for just the fourth time this year.

"We scrapped as best we could," Skelton said. "It was hard."

The Falcons will now turn their attention to the Class LL state playoffs. Ludlowe will have a bye in the first round, and will take on either Ridgefield or Amity on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Ludlowe. The Falcons lost in the Class LL final to top-seeded Southington, a year ago, and is looking for a rematch and a trophy this year.

"We feel very good going into the states," Skelton said. "I would love some payback with Southington from last year."
