On Friday, Dec. 16, the Darien boys track and field team place seventh at the New Haven Invitational with 16 points.

C.J. Raia placed second in the high jump with a mark of 5-10 to lead the way. Matt Pik was fourth in the 400 in 53.02 while Nick Lombardo was fifth in the long jump with 20-4. Also contributing to the scoring was Michael Johnston who was fifth in the 1,600 in 4:41.63 and Cameron Smith who was sixth in the high jump at 5-6. Windsor Hall was sixth in the pole vault at 10-6.

Will Lochtefeld was eighth in shot put with a throw of 42-7.75. Pik was 7th in the 800 in 2:05.06. Spencer McMullin was eighth in the long jump with 19-9.5.

Other notable performances included McMullin (55, 7.02, 19th), Charlie Baird (3200, 10:15.11, 16th), Michael Coe (3200, 10:15.39, 17th), Reed Coots (shot put, 38-2.5, 18th) and the 4 x 800 team of Billy Siemers, Sean Lee, Andrew Xiong and Eli Converse (ninth, 9:01.31).

On Saturday, Dec. 17, the team competed at Reindeer Relays. The 4 x 225 team of Lombardo, Corey Eppley, Pik and McMullin placed first in 1:56.1. The 4 x 375 team of Pik, Elliott Helgans, Judson Bergman and Marcus Iqbal also took first place (3:35.27). The sprint medley team of Bergman, Eppley, McMullin and Johnston was third in 3:50.88. Lombardo was also second in the long jump (19-5) and second in the high jump (5-8). Harlan Smith was fourth in high jump (5-8). Eli Converse finished first in the mile.
