"Visage," an acrylic painting by Bruce Horan of Darien, won the $250 prize for best in show at the second annual "40 Under 40," an exhibition of works in all media by artists ages 15 to 39 at the Rowayton Arts Center.

"The exhibit is an exciting, eclectic mix of work by younger area artists," said award-winning artist Mark Macrides, who selected the winning artwork. "Subtle watercolors hold their own next to boldly colored oils and acrylics.

"Several dynamic sculptured and mixed media pieces add dimension to this wonderful variety of work.

"The diversity of subject matter takes one on a journey through space and time and to locations as diverse as Central Park at dusk and the streets of Guatemala."

The exhibit in the main gallery, 145 Rowayton Ave., continues through April 28.

The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. For information, visit www.rowaytonartscenter.org.
