Normal hours including weekend evening hours will resume at the Darien Library, on Monday, May 17, the library’s staff has announced. The operating hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The Children’s Library closes at 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

The library will also reinstate a number of other services May 17. These include no time limits for using the library, unlimited holds, 24/7 returns at the outdoor drop, no appointments needed to visit the library’s Children’s Library, 60-minute computer access, the resumption of notary services, the return of limited seating throughout the building, and outdoor events beginning in June along with continued virtual events.

Holds will continued to be picked up from the library’s Community Room. Late fines will resume June 1.

The library will continue to require masking inside the building, offer limited seating, and have Plexiglas at staffed service desks, along with enhanced cleaning procedures. Food, and drinks will be allowed outside of the building. Private study rooms are unavailable at this time for the resumption.
