The Mather Homestead Foundation recently raised funds for gardening, and beautification projects on the Homestead’s property at its second annual Garden Tea event May 26, on the property, which is located at 19 Stephen Mather Road in Darien.

Two Darien High School seniors have been selected as spring 2022 interns in the Stamford-based SoundWaters environmental education organization’s spring internship program. Sophie Petti, and Lila Degenarro are working for five weeks at the organization’s Coastal Education Center at the Cove Island Park in Stamford.

Swimmers take to the water at the Swim Across America Fairfield County event at Cummings Point in Stamford, Conn. Sunday, Aug. 8, 2021. More than $360,000 was raised at the event for the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, a local nonprofit that funds research in cell and gene therapies to treat cancer. Swimmers swam routes ranging from half a mile to three miles as hundreds cheered them on from the shore.

The Darien Library is inviting readers of all ages to participate in its 2022 summer reading program: “Expedition Blue Wave” for children, the Teen Summer Challenge for tweens and teens, and “Make a Splash” for adults. Readers have through Aug. 14 to read books and enter challenges for a chance to win prizes.

With tears, smiles and hugs all around, the members of the Darien High School class of 2022 donned cap and gown and sat as a class one final time on June 17 before moving on to the next stage of their lives.
