Darien Community Association cancels bridge classes, games due to COVID

DARIEN — The Darien Community Association will not hold its bridge classes and bridge games this week due to the spiking cases of COVID-19 in the region.

“In keeping with other local bridge venues and in consultation with our director/instructor, DCA bridge classes and games are canceled for this week,” the DCA said on its website.

The cancellations include the Monday, Jan. 3, newplicate/duplicate games, and Joan Bergen’s intermediate boot camp on Wednesday, Jan. 5, and beginner boot camp on Thursday, Jan. 6.

“Based on recent holiday gatherings/travel that could further contribute to COVID transmission, we thought that a cautious approach to in-person events was appropriate for the first week of January,” the Darien Community Association said on its website. “We will continue to monitor and assess” the situation.

Residents can still sign up for bridge classes that begin in January. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required for all class members. To sign up, visit https://dariendca.org/bridge-classes/ to learn about a variety of courses offered at the DCA.

The Darien Community Association is located at 274 Middlesex Road in Darien.
