Brazilian film to be screened at library
The last movie of the Danbury Library's Independent Movie Series will be shown on Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Brazilian film "The Middle of the World."
Refreshments and discussion follow the free film. Adapted from a true story, the film is about an unemployed truck driver, hoping to find a high-paying job, travels 2,000 miles with his wife and five children on four bicycles through Brazil.
DAWS seeks items
for annual tag sale
The Danbury Animal Welfare Society is seeking donated items for its annual fundraising tag sale.
Donated items will be accepted on April 4 from 2-7 p.m. and on April 5 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Hatters Community Park, 7 East Hayestown Road.
Toys, household items, knick-knacks, and seasonal items are wanted.
No clothing, computer equipment or large furniture can be accepted.
The sale will be held April 6 and April 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hatter's Park.

Thrift Shop Fashion
Show to be held
The First Congregational Church of Danbury and the Deer Hill Thrift Shop is holding its first Thrift Shop Fashion Show on April 15 at noon.
The afternoon includes a pasta lunch followed by a fashion show showcasing some of the finer things from the Deer Hill Thrift Shop. After the show, the thrift shop will be open for shopping.

WestConn to host 'Passport Day'
Members of the Western Connecticut State University and Greater Danbury communities will have the opportunity to apply for a U.S. passport when the university hosts "Passport Day" from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 10.
The event, conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Postal Service , will be in the Westside Campus Center on the university's Westside campus, Lake Avenue Extension. The public is invited.
Individuals who wish to submit a passport application should bring evidence of U.S. citizenship, a photo ID, an original (raised seal) birth certificate and two passport photos. Application fees are $67 plus a $30 execution fee for persons age 16 and older, and $52 plus a $30 execution fee for persons under 16.
Payment will be accepted in cash or by check.
