DAR hosts five-town meeting Oct. 24
DAR chapters from Wilton, Weston, New Canaan, Norwalk and Darien will meet on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a potluck luncheon at the Parish Hall of the Congregational Church on the Green on Park Street in Norwalk. This year's annual five-town meeting and luncheon is hosted by the Norwalk DAR Chapter. The keynote speaker will be Tracy O'Brien who will discuss "The History and Evolution of the Flag of the United States." Darien's Good Wife's River DAR Chapter Regent Karen Polett will hold a brief business meeting prior to the luncheon. Call Polett at 656-0857 for beverage assignments.
Plans for the DAR holiday party at the Stamford Yacht Club on Dec. 2, will be among the items discussed.
and the Good Citizen award presentation at the home of Second Vice Regent Vigee Droesch on Dec. 11, will be finalized. Wreaths Across America sponsorships for the Darien Veteran's Cemetery ceremony at noon on Dec. 12, will be discussed.
This five-town meeting comes just one week after local DAR members will be attending the 116th annual Fall Connecticut State DAR Meeting and Debutante presentation held at the Rocky Hill Marriott Hotel.
Membership into DAR is open to any woman who can trace her direct lineage to a patriot who served the cause of American Independence during the Revolutionary War. For applications and information, contact Registrar Winifred Lom at 655-0686.
