Country club employee charged with DUI
John Torres, 31, who lives at the Country Club of Darien on Mansfield Avenue, was charged Oct. 18 with driving under the influence, operating with unsafe tires and operating a car without a license, police said.
Just after 2:30 a.m., an officer traveling south on Mansfield Avenue saw Torres drive the opposite direction with his car making an odd noise, according to the report.
Torres was driving on a flat and shredded tire, police said.
Torres provided the officer with his Colombian identification once he was pulled over, police said.
Police reported there was a spilled beer bottle on the floor in the front of the car and empty beer bottles in the back seat.
Torres failed his field sobriety tests, police said.
Torres told police that he was at his friend's house and had two Red Bulls and a glass of Coke, police said. Torres believes his friend may have put alcohol in his soda, according to the report.
He was released on a $120 bond and has a scheduled court date of Oct. 28.
