Bronx man charged with DUI
Fernando Morfin, 32, of 9525 Third Ave., Bronx, N.Y., was arrested Aug. 5 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a license.
At 3:27 a.m., an officer on patrol saw a 1992 Ford Ranger stopped on Hillside Avenue in the traveling lane, with Morfin slumped over the steering wheel, according to police. While attempting to rouse Morfin, police said, the officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol. When asked where he was, Morfin responded, "Rye, N.Y., in front of my friend's house," police said. Police said the key was in the ignition and the car was in parked gear.
He was administered a field sobriety test, which he failed, said police.
He posted $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 15.
