Bichon bite worse than bark at Tilley Pond Park
Police are investigating a dog fight at Tilley Pond Park on West Avenue last Thursday during which two bichon frises owned by a Greenwich man bit a Stamford woman's finger when she attempted to stop them from attacking her chocolate Labrador, according to Darien Police Detective Mark Cappelli.
The bichon frises were taken into custody for a state mandated 14-day quarantine for biting a person, Cappelli said.
The woman reported walking her dog on the leash around 6:39 p.m., March 19, when the owner of the bichon frises mentioned his "dogs were friendly," and released them from their leashes, according to Cappelli.
The bichon frises charged the woman and her dog, attacking the Labrador, Cappelli said. The woman sustained a puncture wound to the middle finger of her hand trying to separate the animals, Cappelli said.
