Downtown Stamford was recently introduced to Bar Q, a "saucy, spicy, dry-rubbed, slow cooked, sweet smelling and smoky" bold restaurant and bar. The team behind Bar Q considers barbeque to be an art form -- a form of true pleasure.

At Bar Q, the pig is sacred, the beer is cold and the music is up. Bar Q takes its cues from its sister location, Bobby Q's of Westport, a barbeque restaurant since 2004.

Located in the former Hula Hanks space and still under the Post Road Entertainment company umbrella, along with co-owner Bob LeRose of Bobby-Q's, Bar Q has a bi-level restaurant with a seating capacity of 170 and expansive bar.

Bar Q is a barbeque melting pot of sorts -- Nashville meets Kansas City, with mid-west hospitality and a touch of New Orleans soul.

Utilizing wide plank wood from floor to ceiling, cowhide clad wall fabric and photos of farmland, the space evokes American spirit.

Pit-smoked barbeque, Southern favorites, and down home cooking is in the form of appetizers and tasting plates.

Co-owner Bob LeRose and executive chef Tim Doherty have taken the tried and true dishes from Bobby-Q's and honed in on the familiar favorites to create a smaller, more casual dining menu.

House made barbeque sauces come bold, sweet or pungent. Carnivores can rejoice over beef burnt ends, juicy brisket, sauced up pulled pork, and St. Louis sticky ribs. There's also wood-kissed chicken wings, jalapeno brush poppers, Texas hold `em taquitos, and ornmeal hush puppies.
