At Home In Darien would like to thank the many volunteers who participated in this fall’s leaf-raking program for seniors. Students in the St. Thomas More Youth Group of Darien, Church of Latter Day Saints Youth Darien Ward, Darien YMCA Adventure Guides and Princesses, the St. Luke’s of Darien’s Confirmands and the Darien eighth grade football team, as well as the Hopper, Wheeler Ventker, and Vicente families, who all spent 462 hours raking, bagging and hauling numerous piles of leaves from the homes of 25 Darien seniors.

Leaf raking is a tiresome chore, so our seniors were thrilled to have the help. The seniors also enjoyed meeting the numerous volunteers who came to their aid. In turn, the volunteers were happy to help their elderly neighbors and enjoyed connecting with others in their community.

At Home In Darien is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization whose mission is to help older adults in Darien to live independently, comfortably and with dignity in their own homes for as long as possible. For more information, or to volunteer, please call 203-655-2227 or visit: www.athomeindarien.org.
