The Center for Hope will welcome Huffington Post founder and editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington as she takes to the podium as the speaker for its annual luncheon at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the Woodway Country Club in Darien.

Huffington also is a syndicated columnist and author of 14 books. She was named one of Forbes' Most Influential Women of 2013 and has appeared on the Time 100 list twice. The Huffington Post was also awarded the winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for national journalism.

After years of working around the clock, Huffington collapsed in 2007 due to exhaustion and lack of sleep. Left with a broken cheekbone and a serious eye injury, Huffington used the accident as a wake-up call that forced her to re-evaluate the true measure of success.

In her new book, "Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder," Huffington, the mother of two, draws on her experiences to outline a definition of success that focuses on the importance of professional and personal balance.

The co-chairmen of the luncheon are Jan Dilenscheider of Darien, Louise Vanderlip of Greenwich and Terri Walker of Rowayton.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Center for Hope and The Den for Grieving Kids, Family Centers' programs offering counseling and support to residents of lower Fairfield County coping with a loss, a critical illness or life-altering circumstance. Family Centers is a United Way, Community Fund of Darien and New Canaan Community Foundation partner agency.

Tickets start at $125, and all attendees will receive a copy Huffington's book. For information or tickets, visit or call 203-869-4848.
