The New Canaan Branch of American Association of University Women will hold its traditional holiday brunch Thursday, Dec. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Waveny House.

The event will feature Wendy Kerner-Lucas, renowned local harpist. Praised as "first-rate" by the New York Times, she has appeared in concert throughout the U.S., performed at the World Harp Congress in Seattle, Washington and Paris, France, played for Queen Sirikit of Thailand as well as for former First Lady, Hilary Clinton.

Kerner-Lucas was presented in her New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall as a winner of the Artists International Chamber Music Competition. She is also a winner of the American Harp Society's Concert Artist Program and the Silver Prize in the National Flute Association's Chamber Music Competition.

Kerner-Lucas is the principal harpist with the Bridgeport, Norwalk and Ridgefield Symphonies in Connecticut. She began the harp at age seven and was a scholarship student at The Julliard School where she received her Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees. Her harp and flute CD "Sounds of the Seine" has been released on the Delos label. She maintains an active private teaching studio in New Canaan.
