Paula West has a request, and it’s “Gimme Some Truth.” She’ll include the John Lennon song when she starts her two-week summer residency at Feinstein’s at the Nikko on Thursday, July 6.

She’s going to “get very political” with the song, she says, adding, “You could swear it was written yesterday.”

Her Feinstein’s gigs will also include music by Rodgers and Hammerstein, the Beatles and other composers, of course, including Bob Dylan, whose music has long been a staple of every West show.

I have a sense she’ll be singing Charles Strouse’s “Put on a Happy Face” with a tinge of irony.
