An alumna of Choate Rosemary Hall was among the dozens of people who died in a fire aboard a diving boat off the California coast on Monday.

Adrian Dahood-Fritz, who graduated from the Wallingford prep school in 1997, was among the 34 who died in the Conception boat fire. Also killed in the fire was her husband, Andrew.

Dahood-Fritz was a research scientist who frequently traveled to Antarctica for her work, Her husband, originally from Michigan, was a photography teacher.

The couple had moved to Sacremento, Calif., about 15 months ago after previously having lived in Texas.

The boat was anchored off Santa Cruz Island when the fire started during the early hours Monday as passengers slept below deck.
