HAMDEN — Police are investigating after a man attempted to convince a 13-year-old girl to get into his car Wednesday afternoon, according to the department.

Capt. Ronald Smith said in a release that officers responded to Jones Road Wednesday for a report of suspicious activity.

“Investigation revealed that a 13 year-old Hamden resident was walking her dog on Jones Road. She was approached by an individual, described as a black male, 30’s, with yellow teeth, who was operating an older model red Honda Accord sedan,” Smith said. “He first asked her to tell him her name. He then stated, ‘You should get in the vehicle.’ The teen refused his request.”

The man then drove off toward Pine Rock Avenue, Smith said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Hamden police Officer Christina Giori at 203-230-4030, Smith said.
