DANBURY — Western Connecticut State University’s observatory will be open to the public on six Saturday evenings this fall, beginning this weekend.

The presentations at the WCSU Planetarium and Observatory on the Westside campus will include a one-hour planetarium show, followed by telescope viewing of prominent features in the night sky including the moon, Jupiter, Saturn and prominent star systems, clusters and nebulae, according to a press release.

The first event will be this Saturday, with the planetarium show at 7 p.m. and sky observation from 8 to 10 p.m. Other events are at 6 p.m. Oct. 5, 6 p.m. Oct. 19, 5 p.m. Nov. 9, 5 p.m. Nov. 23 and 5 p.m. Dec. 7.

Planetarium shows are intended for adults and older children and will be canceled only in the event of hazardous road conditions or severe weather. The viewing period will not be offered when cloud cover prevents sky observations. For updates, call (203) 837-8672 on the day of the event.
