Sunday snowstorm drops 3 inches in some parts of Danbury area

DANBURY — In addition to some rain and ice, Sunday night’s storm dropped around more than 3 inches of snow on some parts of the greater Danbury area.

Danbury had the area’s highest snow accumulation at 3.4 inches, followed by Newtown at 3.2, according to the National Weather Service.

New Fairfield received 2.6 inches, while New Milford and Southbury each reported about 2 inches.

According to the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network, Bethel and Ridgefield also got about 2 inches, and 1.8 inches was reported in Brookfield.

The NWS had called for about 2 to 3 inches of snow north of the Interstate 95 corridor and reminded drivers of potentially slippery roads Monday morning. Municipalities south of I-95 mostly saw rain, with some brief periods of snowfall. No major accidents or incidents were reported.

Danbury has a mostly cloudy forecast for Monday, with a high near 40 degrees and winds between 3 and 6 mph. Temperatures are expected to drop to 29 degrees Monday night with light wind conditions.
