STAMFORD — The Stamford Public Education Foundation has received a $3,500 grant to support its nationally-recognized mentoring initiative.
The grant, awarded by First County Bank Foundation, will be used toward the Stamford Mentoring Program, an effort launched in 2010 to provide students in need of additional academic and/or social support with resources and guidance.
The program serves students in all school levels and in all college and career endeavors.
During the current school year, the foundation provided mentoring services to 736 students in grades three to 12, a 52 percent increase over last year, according to a news release.
