Official: Threats made during fight at New Milford school
NEW MILFORD — A fight between two men in a high school parking lot earlier this week led administrators to send students home for their safety, according to a letter sent from the superintendent’s office Wednesday.
In an email the superintendent said there was an incident around 5 p.m. Wednesday at the New Milford High School involving two men. It happened in the back parking lot of the school.
“The adult male individuals got in an altercation that became volatile and threats were made,” the email said. There were no further details, including what might’ve sparked the fight, provided.
The superintendent said for the safety of the students on campus, the students were removed from the area and brought inside the building.
The students who unable to drive themselves home had their parents called to pick them up from the school.
The police, coaches and the athletic director stayed with the students until all the students were picked up and taken off campus.
The superintendent said New Milford police continue to investigate the incident.
